Volunteer Opportunities at Project SHARE

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT PROJECT SHARE

Several volunteer opportunities are waiting for you at Project SHARE. Volunteering may be done at monthly food distributions. Tasks include unloading trucks, labeling food inventories, baling cardboard and sorting both food and clothing.  SHARE also needs someone to assist with data entry in the office.

During the summer and fall, additional opportunities are available:

  • Gleaning: Recruit a team and pick produce at local farms. The fresh produce will then be given out on distribution days.  Gleaning dates for 2013 will be released later in the year:
  • Harvest Kitchen: If gleaning is too physical an activity but you are good in the kitchen, join others to prepare and preserve produce for use later in the year. Those dates will also be released over the summer.
  • Buttonwood Market: The owners of Buttonwood Farm on Rte. 74 North have donated 6 acres and 2 greenhouses to Project SHARE. Help is needed to run the register, plant and harvest the crops, and drivers to make runs to the Shippensburg flower auction.

Anyone interested in assisting can call Project SHARE at 249-7773 or by emailing volunteercoord@projectshare.net.
