It is time to register for church camp. If you have a youth in your family that is considering going to church camp, please pick up a registration form in the Gathering. If you send in your registration by April 6, there is an early bird discount. Grace UMC pays one-half of the discounted registration for each camper, but if you missed the April 6 deadline, you will have to pay the difference.

Women at the Well Meetings

Calling all the ladies – - the Women at the Well fellowship group is for ladies of all ages who would like to get together mid-week and mid-month for refreshments and discussion with their sisters in Christ. The current study, which began in February, is “In the Dust of the Rabbi.” This is a video series set in the Holy Land. Biblical scholar Ray Vander Laan explains the cultural, historical and spiritual context of the time that Jesus spent with his disciples. Each lesson stands alone so you can attend as your schedule allows.

Meetings are held from 7:00-8:30 pm in room 4. Questions regarding the group, the study or the schedule may be directed to Lori Snyder at 486-3445 or Lsnyder723@centurylink.net.

The 2013 Haiti Mission Trip Wants You!

Have you ever considered joining one of our mission trips to Haiti? If you would like more information about how you can be part of this life-changing experience, an introduction will be held at the Allison Campus on Sunday, April 7 at 12:30.

This year’s trip is scheduled earlier than in the past – from August 30 to September 7. The cost per team member is approximately $1500, which includes everything. Team members must be 16 years of age to participate. See where God’s light is shining and experience the hope shared by being present with people in need.

“Chat & Chew” Meets Monthly

Chat and Chew is a new opportunity for our “experienced” adults to meet on a monthly basis with the pastors for conversation and lunch. Meetings generally will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 12 am to 1:30 in the Gathering and cover different topics. Future dates will be listed in the church calendar.

Each participant should bring a bagged lunch, and the church will provide dessert and beverages. Please notify the church office several days in advance of each meeting so arrangements for sufficient quantities can be made.

Become a Shelter Sister

You can make a real difference in the lives of homeless families. Female overnight volunteers are needed to serve at the children’s and women’s shelter at Grace Church. Volunteers serve from 9:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. There are usually 3-5 mothers with 8 or more children from 4 weeks to 14 years old. In addition to staying over night the volunteer completes a sign-in sheet and records the names of the guests. The sign-in sheet is returned to the Shelter in the morning. “The kids staying at the shelter are great. Volunteer Opportunities at Project SHARE

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT PROJECT SHARE

Several volunteer opportunities are waiting for you at Project SHARE. Volunteering may be done at monthly food distributions. Tasks include unloading trucks, labeling food inventories, baling cardboard and sorting both food and clothing. SHARE also needs someone to assist with data entry in the office.

During the summer and fall, additional opportunities are available:

Gleaning: Recruit a team and pick produce at local farms. The fresh produce will then be given out on distribution days. Gleaning dates for 2013 will be released later in the year:
Harvest Kitchen: If gleaning is too physical an activity but you are good in the kitchen, join others to prepare and preserve produce for use later in the year. Those dates will also be released over the summer.
Buttonwood Market: The owners of Buttonwood Farm on Rte. 74 North have donated 6 acres and 2 greenhouses to Project SHARE. Help is needed to run the register, plant and harvest the crops, and drivers to make runs to the Shippensburg flower auction.

Volunteer for Carlisle CARES

Carlisle CARES needs volunteers to keep its programs going. We need Overnight Volunteers RIGHT NOW! These persons spend the nighttime hours from 9:00PM till 7:00AM as chaperones in the participating churches providing shelter each month. We also need persons skilled in the medical, mental, or social work fields to be our Professional Intake Volunteers for about one hour. Please consider offering one or two nights each month to this worthy cause. Won’t you have a heart for the homeless and show it by offering some of your time?
