NEW FORMAT FOR NEW BEGINNINGS CLASS
Beginning with the 2009 Fall Sunday School Quarter, the NEW BEGINNINGS classes will be offered in a new format. Traditionally these classes have been offered for persons who are thinking about membership at Grace or who have recently joined the church. Now, the classes are also being offered for any adults who want more information to further their spiritual walk, no matter how long they have been associated with the church. New Beginnings will be offered in a three month format throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring Sunday School Quarters, from, 9:50 am – 10:50 am. Each month is a separate class, but all three form a unit when taken together:
- Each quarter, the first month (September, December, and March) will be a group of 4 classes titled “KNOWING GOD”. This series includes basic information on what it means to be a Christian, what Christians believe, what United Methodists believe, what it means to be a church member, and how the United Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church are structured and organized.
- Each quarter, the second month (October, January, and April) will be a group of 4 classes titled “LOVING GOD”. This series focuses on the four basic habits (spiritual disciplines) that every Christian needs to grow to spiritual maturity. These topics will be Bible study and daily devotion, prayer, tithing, and Christian fellowship.
- Each quarter, the third month (November, February and May) will be a group of 4 classes titled “SERVING GOD”. This series, “Serving From the Heart” helps persons to discover their own unique gifts and talents for service through the church, so they can connect with service opportunities with confidence and commitment. These topics will be Spiritual Gifts, Individuality, Talents, Resources, Dreams and Experiences.
Anyone, who is interested in these topics or has questions, is invited to become involved, in any one or all three class series, by contacting Joanne Monoski at the church office, 249-1512, Ext. 227, by emailing at jmonoski@gumc-carlisle.org, or by signing up on the class lists on the bulletin boards. Brochures for your taking, explaining the format, can be found throughout the church.
